MEADOW SUPPLY
Wild Wreath Workshop
To start, you should have:
1 x wreath form
1 x evergreen bunch
1 x flower bunch
1 x chicken wire sheet
STEP 01.
SECURE WIRE
Wrap your chicken wire around the part of the wreath form you’d like to design. Squish the wire into the wreath as tightly as you can.
STEP 02.
FILL TOP HALF
Starting from the top of your chicken wire, tuck & weave pieces of greenery into the holes, working your way down to the middle of the section.
Tip: Tuck your stems in on an angle, so they are laying mostly flat against the wreath form. Layer in different sizes & varieties as your work your way down.
STEP 03.
FILL BOTTOM HALF
Now work from the bottom of the chicken wire, moving up towards the middle.
Tip: Greenery stems are generally soft and maluable - don’t be afraid to bend them and use some force.
STEP 04.
FILL MIDDLE
As you approch the middle, overlap the top and bottom sections and layer in pieces of baby’s breath.
Tip: Chop bigger pieces up into smaller, mini branches.
STEP 05.
ADD TEXTURE
Once your greenery base feels established, you can start to layer in textural flowers and grasses, like queen annes lace, sedum, and rye grass.
Tip: Unlike greenery, dried flowers are very delicate, so it’s best to handle with care. Holding them at the bottom of the stem and gentlty sliding them in will help to avoid breakage.
STEP 06.
ADD INTEREST
Add in pops of interest and dimension with flowers like gomphrena, nigella pods and phalaris grass. Play around with different lengths, directions & clusters.
Tip: Nigella pods, the spikey purple balls, have tons of little seeds in them! When you are finished with your wreath, crack open the pod and save the seeds to plant in the spring.
STEP 07.
ADD YOUR BOW
Take a piece of floral wire, poke it through the back loop of your bow, and twist close to the bow. You should be left with two long prongs. Secure your bow in your desired spot by simply poking the prongs through the wreath.
Tip: We will be handing out bows and wire once things get going. Please come to the flower bar if we miss you!
STEP 08.
FINAL TOUCHES
Add moss to fill any holes or cover any chicken wire. Add branches to sculpt and create an organic shape. For a wilder look, add loose pieces of grapevine to the wreath form, or gently pull out existing pieces.
